Woa, that is so bad, I hadn't even heard anything about a strike, I cannot understand why TT citizens have to put up with this...maybe the majority just aren't shouting out loud enough.
I'd be angry too JB, there should be a refund for monies that you had to pay for your P.O. bag,
Hope they get things sorted for you soon!
I really don't use TT Post for anything so it wouldn't bother me. I think most people don't rely on mail anymore because everything is electronic now, so no need for a bill.
Due to this strike, taxpayers would have to pay fines even though is not their fault.

TAXPAYERS might have to pay more money in fines, through no fault of theirs, after a TTPost protest has delayed delivery of income tax return forms. The Board of Inland Revenue, to avoid this, has now been forced to ask taxpayers to come to offices to pick up forms, days before the May 31 deadline. A spokesperson stated they would not push back the due date for submission of income tax forms although many have not yet received the forms. Following industrial action by TTPost workers last month, the delivery of forms has been slow. Over the weekend, BIR placed an advertisement in the newspapers stating that the forms had been mailed out but those who had not received them to date should come into BIR offices to pick up forms. BIR has offices in Arima, San Fernando, Tobago and Port of Spain. Officials from BIR also confirmed yesterday that the deadline, itself an extension from the initial April 30 date following the start of industrial action by TTPost, would stand.... |
This thing the media keeps saying about it is moving "slow" is a lie, it is not moving at all! I have not received mail for a long time and when I visit the post office they just say it is all in boxes and they are not sorting.
Next thing, I sent a package to PaintingBlue about a couple of weeks ago, it took a week more than it usually does, but at least it seems that outbound mail is going.
Those companies work on a separate system so I doubt they are affected. However, if someone was sending it to a P.O.BAG like mine then it is likely to reach fast but just stick there, but I think they need an actual physical address.
Rather off topic, but... I am unimpressed with those services here as well. It may get here fast from elsewhere, but the distribution by the local drivers is deplorable. |
It seems like the TTPost strike is over. Mail is starting to flow again, however it is still very slow. Just imagine I am now getting mail from April and May, they still need to give me June. I did ask one worker if they were happy with what they got and she claimed that it is not all that they asked for but it is OK. Let's see how long it lasts and if service will improve!
