I think having a sleep over at a shelter to hang out with the dogs can be both good for the dogs and the person sleeping over with them. They may make a connection with one of the dogs and thus take them home to a furever home for the pet.

Oh heck yeah. This is a great idea. I would volunteer to do this. I love animals. I'm a bit of an animal whisperer. I once had a neighbor who had a wolf hybrid. He told me not to bother trying to get know him, he didn't like anyone but his family. I worked at it, spending a whole afternoon getting him to come to me to take a treat from my hand. Before long Samson, that was the dog's name, came running to me when I drove home from work. Yeah, I'm an animal guy.
