Businessman David Perdue will win the Republican Senate primary runoff in Georgia, beating Rep. Jack Kingston, CNN projects.

The vote caps a negative campaign for Perdue, a former CEO of Dollar General and Reebok who ran as a political outsider, and Kingston, an 11-term congressman backed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Perdue will now face Michelle Nunn in November in what Democrats see as one of only two states where they can play offense in this year's fight for control of the Senate. Ref. CNN
