President Obama said he spoke with Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon to share his concern about recent violence in Ferguson after the shooting of unarmed teenager Michael Brown by a police officer.
"Now's the time for healing. Now's the time for peace and calm on the streets of Ferguson," Obama told reporters.
Nixon, for his part, said he would take steps to change the tone in the community. He said it was crucial to allow protesters to express their anger as long as they respect the rights of others. Ref. CNN

Ferguson, Missouri, police on Friday will release the name of the officer who shot Michael Brown, a source close to the investigation tells CNN's Julian Cummings.
The St. Louis suburb has been the scene of protests since Saturday, when the officer shot and killed Brown, who was unarmed. Police say he was trying to grab the officer's gun. Witnesses say the 18-year-old was holding his hands in the air when he was fatally shot. Ref. CNN
The police officer involved in the fatal shooting of an unarmed teen in a St. Louis suburb has been identified as Darren Wilson. Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson, who released the name to reporters today, said Wilson has been a police officer for six years.
Michael Brown, an African-American teen, was shot to death Saturday. Police have said the shooting occurred during a struggle for the officer's gun. Witnesses have said Brown's arms were raised when he was shot. Ref. CNN
One of the problems we face here in America is that in cases like this you never know the truth and they're releasing the name of the officer and I think it is just plain wrong. One of the sides is lying and you never know which one. The police could be lying to cover themselves and the witnesses because again people would defend the indefensible just because the person in question happens to be from the same race. We're messed up in this country.

After another night of protests in Ferguson, Missouri, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder today approved a second autopsy on the body of Michael Brown.
The autopsy will be conducted by a federal medical examiner, Justice Department spokesman Brian Fallon said in a statement.
The second autopsy, which was requested by the Brown family, is in addition to one being performed by the state. Ref. CNN
