Investigators said that sometime around 2 p.m, gravediggers were preparing a site near the tomb for a burial when they saw Mulrain lying "face up" in the tomb. They thought he was asleep. They walked over and nudged him but Mulrain didn't budge. They then called the police.

Moruga had been his hideout since his great escape and return from Venezuela. But two weeks ago, police learnt of his whereabouts from a relative who found out he was smuggling guns into Trinidad from Venezuela. Baptiste was shot when he allegedly fired on the police during his attempt to escape.
