AP - Next month's shuttle flight to the Hubble Space Telescope faces an increased risk of a destructive hit by space junk because it will be in a higher, more littered orbit than usual, NASA said Monday. Managers at NASA's highest levels will need to sign off on the mission because of the increased risk.
Truly this is a sad statement. We have no clean water and our atmosphere is deteriorating due to our technological advancement. Now we can not flying at high altitudes because we have left garbage in orbit and have more then ever new satellite floating about. By the time we master space travel we will not be able to launch from earth.
I was thinking of that. Why do we not capture some of this space junk that is floating about up there. We can use some of the metals in some of the things we are building to be up there now. Besides we can also see what effects of long term exposure to space can do to some material.
