Mormon Plastic Surgery

Is the plastic surgeon an evil man, is getting implants and trying to raise your brows so you don't show any wrinkles wrong?

For what purpose? To be seen of Men or of God?

Personally I have never been a fan of Plastic Surgery, mostly because the body we have isn't really ours. Mortal life is a gift, and we are here to learn how to use our body. God, in his wisdom, gave us the body we have. Why change what God gave us?

On the other hand I know there are times, being in a mortal work that things happen. Sometimes things happen at birth, or accidents happen that do need to be corrected. Thats probably the word I would use, "corrected"

Does going to a Plastic Surgen correcting something, or just trying to make something better? In our day and age most humans don't have straight teeth, thus we have Braces to correct it. Some cases Braces aren't needed, but in most cases its better to have straight teeth to avoid other problems. It has become more of an outward look then really why we are doing it.

I guess in the end if somebody can Justify Plastic Surgery to God, explain to him why you need it, then go for it. Just know, what does happen, doesn't come with you in the ressurection, which is really when you get your body.

I think Elder Holland some time ago gave a talk about it saying it is detrimental to the Spirit. Personally, I believe it all depends on the circumstances and the kind of operation.

As long as it's not too risky and it boost the self esteem of the person then why not? Here in the US breast implants its huge and we all know why. I believe that when someone feels better about themselves it can also lead to other great changes in their lives.

Of course if it becomes an addiction or obsession then definitely no.

I think that there is a great deal of plastic surgery that is justified, but I think that sometimes the question that we need to ask ourselves is, "am I motivated by pride or the opinions of men or what is it that motivates me?"

I think most of the time is because people want to feel good about themselves. Take my example. I'm a big guy, tattoos and all but my teeth were crowded and I felt very insecure growing up. A couple of years ago I decided to do veneers which is a cosmetic procedure. In this country straight teeth is as having a boob job for women its a big deal! I did it because of me.

I don't think the Lord may be pleased if we focus too much on our physical aspect. I think unless there is a deformity or something related to health we should avoid plastic surgery. The money could well be used to help someone in need.
