I wanted to buy a home and although a small amount is in escrow can I get it back if I've changed my mind?

I think that depends on why you changed your mind. If it is just oops I really do not want it you might be on the hook for the whole nine yards. I never paid anything to any one until my home was actually purchased. then the real estate agent was paid buy the seller. I paid nothing.

The only way out of an accepted bid would be a fault in the building.
