The U.S. Military is trailing a small aircraft that is unresponsive and is flying over the Atlantic Ocean headed toward Cuban airspace, the North American Aerospace Defense Command said.
Two F-15s are flying with the plane east of Florida. The windows, according to a NORAD spokesman, are frosted, and it is not known how much fuel is left.
NORAD is in touch with Cuban authorities via the U.S. Coast Guard. The U.S. Military jets will not enter Cuban airspace, a NORAD spokesman said. Ref. CNN
An unresponsive single-engine plane has crashed in the water near Jamaica, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
F-15 pilots tracking the plane could see a pilot slumped over, a NORAD official said. The pilot had stopped responding to radio calls at about 10 a.m. ET, the FAA said.
The U.S.-registered aircraft overflew Cuba, but Cuban officials said it did not consider the incident a violation of its airspace. Ref. CNN
