There were a lot of legal issues that brought about the validation of same sex "marriage", issues of survivorship, medical plans, spousal responsibility. I don't see the issue of multiple person marriage even being considered until all the legalization for same sex co-habitation is settled. the "gay marriage" issue covers a lot of territory in the legal field. Ons such situation that would have been covered was examlified by the time I and my two sisters were living with one sister's husband. For a short time two of us were unemployed and his medical would not cover all of us. Even if BJ and I were living in a house alone together because she is my sister there is some vague area in legality and medical coverage that left us in the dark. These issues would have to be addressed before the possibility of multiple marriage could be brought to bear.
Personally I don't think it will ever be legal in the US
It will be legal when men stop following tradition and open their minds and hearts to new ideas that could solve a lot of problems.
