I may have to look at one of these cheap laptops if they have xp in them. I can upgrade from there I think.

Look for computer coming back off a one year lease they are generally fully loaded and 100 to 200 dollars. Nice part is you all the office software not the cheap knock of home versions.

I hate to say it but a child almost need one after grade 6 or so so that they can do their assignments in the formats that are expected. Hand drawn maps etc are frowned on today. Then they ponder why children have to idea how to function in the working world where you do no have these items at your finger tips.
