I think that Saudi Arabia depends on the US's continued strong economy, which allows Americans to continue buying tons of Asian and Chinese made goods, which keep Asia and Chinese oil demands very high. Plus, we can safeguard their shipping routes.

I think it might help to put more pressure to increase the production if the states starts pulling back. I also have to ponder the new china relationship could the Saudies be thinking to let china in on the protection racket? Saudies suddenly start helping the Chinese build a high tech army and in turn gets protection as well as more control over China, would be an interesting twist to world politics.

Yes that would be a very interesting twist of events. I think the US is using less oil now that in the past. This is a direct result of americans driving less. I still do not think the saudi's can produce much more so I do not see much if any increase happening for long.
