Trinidad Police Stealing Cars

This does very little to build the relationships of trust between the public and the police when there are rings of police officers stealing cars, committing crimes and getting away with it for so long.

This is from the Trinidad Express:

international QUOTE
A MAJOR car-stealing racket involving several police officers from the Northern and Eastern Division has been uncovered following the arrest of two police officers over the last 48 hours. Senior police sources said yesterday they expect in the coming weeks at least seven other police officers, including an acting inspector and other low-ranked officers, would be detained for questioning for the alleged crimes. That's true but on the brighter side you have to see that they aren't getting away with it and there ARE police out there, good cops that want to see justice done. Don't let a few bad officers make you think the whole police force is bad.

TV6 is reporting that a civilian and a soldier is also involved and that the case is at a sensitive stage.

Title: Police self-clean

Comments: We can be confident that our police service does not shy away from cleaning itself. Whenever evidence of criminal acts are discovered, officers involved are charged just as other criminals would be. Our police officers come from our society, and if our society is corrupt, so would holders of office be.

Title: Corruption

Comments: No organisation on this island could be considered free from corruption. There is little hope of having this aspect od Criminal activity eradicated. There are just too many rich masterminds of corruption wearing the mask of respectability in our society .Many are holding positions of authority and enjoy their luxurious lifestyles by playing their part in supporting corruption.

The police like any other organisation, therefore cannot be exempt from this group of individuals who help the generation of crime within our national boundaries.
