Any time you have a law that states that those facing death have a right to end their lives early you will have controversy. You have groups on both sides who advocate either decision and then you have others even family who would not want to assisted suicide to go through but keep the person around al long a possible. This is a tough subject to have a opinion on if you are not facing something like this.

It is a tough subject I agree.

But I often wonder about the hypocrisy in advocating quiet dignified deaths for out pets, but demanding that our loved ones of the human variety stick around to the incredibly bitter end.

Yes that is something that makes one wonder. I think some feel that they can not really communicate with a pet that they do not want to see them suffer. But if a person can communicate with you and tell you they are suffering you just want them medicated to be at peace I guess.
