Trump issues order to ban most transgender troops from serving in military. The White House and Pentagon on Friday unveiled a new policy on transgender troops that will severely restrict their place in the military. Pentagon officials had a deadline of Friday to put in place the new policy after months of consideration and court challenges. President Trump followed through late Friday and issued orders to ban transgender troops in all but extremely limited cases. "The accession or retention of individuals with a history or diagnosis of gender dysphoria—those who may require substantial medical treatment, including through medical drugs or surgery—presents considerable risk to military effectiveness and lethality," the White House said in a statement. Pentagon has spent nearly $8 million to treat over 1,500 transgender troops since 2016, exclusive report shows. As of Feb. 1, according to data obtained by USA TODAY, 1,071 service members have been diagnosed with gender dysphoria in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Public Health Service on active duty and in the reserve force. Most of them are senior enlisted personnel, but there are 20 senior officers — majors and lieutenant commanders and higher — as well. Ref. USAToday.
I have nothing against transgenders but I think tax payers money should not be funding their operations.

Biden overturns Trump ban against transgender troops in one of his first directives to the Pentagon. President Joe Biden on Monday reversed former President Donald Trump's policy that aimed to ban transgender troops from military service. "Allowing all qualified Americans to serve their country in uniform is better for the military and better for the country because an inclusive force is a more effective force," the White House stated. "Simply put, it’s the right thing to do and is in our national interest." Ref. USAToday.
