I am looking at my mortgage right now and can get 5 years at 5.3 with one year left on my old mortgage at 5.03 %. That means I can get a nice rate and might just go for it and see about a 7 year rate so as to ride this wave out in better safety.

Might be best to hit the anniversary on the next US election year also.

Fed's Lockhart Says House Prices May Fall Another 15%

Atlanta Fed President Dennis Lockhart welcomed the recent rise in the U.S. dollar, but said home prices in the U.S. could fall another 10-15%. Following a speech at an Economic Outlook Conference in Atlanta Wednesday, Lockhart said "housing prices will continue to decline," perhaps by as much as 15%.

The Housing Bust Is Over History & Civil Business Politics

With housing prices continuing to drop it almost makes me wish we were better prepared for retirement. We would really like to pick up a beach house some place. It's getting to be more of a buyer's than seller's market. If the current decline continues perhaps I will start looking around and see what bargains are out there.

I am sure there are some houses here in Iowa you can buy.

I think that it is going to be a buyers market for some time yet. I believe that house prices are going to continue to fall. I am glad that I am not trying to get rid of a house right now.
