I had to look this one up as I had never heard of it.

It is a rare disease with unknown causes. It effects different tissues causing them to becomes inflamed. This inflammation can cause tissue damage and as a result organ damage.

It seems to be mostly associated with the respiratory track and kidneys. Other organs can be effected like the ears eyes heart and skin but not as frequent.

Some typical symptons include:

loss of appetite
Weight loss
Fever
Fatigue

In the respiratory system runny nose with funny colors encrustations in the nose and scabs. Nose bleeds cough with funny colored or bloody phlegm. Wheezing, voice change facial pain due to sinus issues are among some of the normal symptoms. Seems the blood is the difference between flue like symptoms and this.

Get ready for a battery of tests if the doctor suspects this one as a positive blood test for antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies is not enough to diagnose this on its own you will need to check your red blood cell count and do a sedimentation rate check (the speed in which blood cells settle in a vertical glass tube) Urinalysis and a nice chest X-ray or perhaps sinus.

Now how is one cured after all this abuse?

By taking corticosteroid medicines, such as prednisone, and chemotherapy drugs, such as cyclophosphamide or methotrexate. These drug suppress the immune system and you must endure this until the disease is in remission for one full year.

naturally with a poor immune system major infections can set in but that is not all. Prednisone can also cause weight gain, cataracts, brittle bones, high blood pressure, diabetes, and changes in mood and personality. Cyclophosphamide can cause sterility, bladder irritation, and bleeding, and even cancer of the bladder. Methotrexate can cause liver irritation. Cyclophosphamide and methotrexate can each cause changes in blood counts and sometimes lung inflammation.

Sound like no matter what this is a rough ride at best.

If you manage to survive the treatment there is a 75% chance you will live for 8 years or more. Many never have issues again. Often as medications are reduced flare ups do occur so you are closely monitored through out the entire process. Timely diagnoses is critical in the survival rate as with most serious diseases.

Well if it has to do with the respiratory track and kidneys then hopefully I am not a candidate for this disease. The more I learn about gulf war syndrome the more they say I have to be careful of respiratory infections.

This sounds like a rough ride. I am glad I am as healthy as I can be right now.

I would suggest then keeping that immune system of your at top notch and doing regular detox mate. Keep the nasties at bay.
