System Of A Down

System of a Down

One of the most out there bands of this generation. Known for their quirky antics, powerful lyrics, deep messages, and plainly awesome music, the band became one of the best in the business.

So I started this post up just to talk about my favorite band. You know, favorite songs, favorite member, favorite album, and especially what songs mean.

I'm sorry if this type of thing was already posted, but I didn't find it; so I made my own! smile.gif

My favorite song by then is "Chop Suey" (not sure if I spelled that right). I liked the video when it came out and was the only reason at the time that I purchased their CD. I agree that they are a very *out there band* but it makes them awesome to watch in video and performing.

I don't have a favorite song because, well I like a lot of it. But I do like them better live. They have a lot of energy and passion when playing on stage. And seeing them live is better because one can actually watch and listen at the same time.

I want to see them on tour this summer.

According to Scaruffi.com: "System Of A Down is a Los Angeles-based "nu-metal" band formed by three Armenian-Americans (Serj Tankian on vocals, Daron Malakian on guitar, Shavo Odadjian on bass). The political rants P.L.U.C.K. (enhanced with a disco beat) and War? were the highlights of System Of A Down (American, 1998).
Tracks: Suite-Pee, Know, Sugar, Suggestions, Spiders, Ddevil, Soil, Mind, Peephole, CUBErt,"

My 16 year old son loves this bands music, I must admit that I had never heard of them until he started playing their cd's.
As he always puts his cd's on in my car whenever we go anywhere, I have now become accustomed to their music. laugh.gif
It is actually really very good. Although I couldn't give you much knowledge about the band, their music certainly isn't offensive in any way though.
I have also quite got into other bands this way too, such as Biffy Clyro, Green Day and Angels and airwaves.
I think if you're not prepared to venture out and listen to other types of music than you usually listen to, you can can lose out on some really good music!

I have always been a fan of their music but didn't really start to get into it until the last two CD's. Mesmerize and Hypnotize are amongst the strongest political lyrics they have ever put out. I can't stop listening to both of those CD's, they are the only two that I bought out right, they are that good.

Oh yeah, totally. The last two albums are so filled with material than the other ones. They also put more effort into trying to pubically recognize the Armenian Genocide in those two albums. So I felt like they gave a little more heart than usual in those albums.

But I really wouldn't say they're a political band. As quoted, and I agree "we have a personal touch to politics, or a political touch to personals", but they never thought themselves to be completely political.

And don't get your information from that "scaruffi.com" thing either. That information sounds extremely old as of these days.

laugh.gif, I have never heard of that site actually! I just divined those thoughts from my understanding of the lyrics. Makes me wonder if I'm reading to much into them now. But Sad Statue seems pretty strong, but maybe its not. Oh, well, I will keep listening to them either way, I love the unique style they bring.
