Carbon nanotubes
'Asbestos warning' on nanotubes
Carbon nanotubes could trigger diseases similar to those caused by asbestos, a study suggests.

I am getting tired of hearing about all of this cancer causing stuff. Yes a lot of stuff has been found to cause cancer if you ingest or are exposed to a very high dosage of it. They say soda can cause cancer but you have to drink about 10 gallons a day for 5 years to be likely to get cancer.
There are too many people out there trying to get rid of good technology by saying it causes cancer. I feel that if you can get cancer from low doses then warn us otherwise stop with all this cancer fear.
In this case KNtoan I take it more serious then the rest as this stuff is going into your body for keeps. Mind you it is better then dieing. I would prefer better materials found before implementation as once it is allowed to be used the industry will be very slow to change from it regardless of the side effect. yes if you over expose yourself to any one substance in high amounts like eating smoked bacon 3 meals a day for a year there is no question you end up with cancer vs once in a while having it for breakfast.
According to wikki
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are allotropes of carbon with a nanostructure that can have a length-to-diameter ratio greater than 1,000,000. These cylindrical carbon molecules have novel properties that make them potentially useful in many applications in nanotechnology, electronics, optics and other fields of materials science. They exhibit extraordinary strength and unique electrical properties, and are efficient conductors of heat. Inorganic nanotubes have also been synthesized.
I do believe tvs is one of the one pushing hard on this technology as well as the medical fields. I have no issue in tv idea, but if I am getting heart surgery and they use this stuff to repair my heart could not a better answer be found. I could see this being used to frame in a fake heart then live cell structures placed and they fill in the grid work. Ok a bit far off but reinforcing vein walls and things like that perhaps. Maybe even nerve damage repairs one day.
I think I will wait until further research is done about and on the carbon nanotubes. Since we (humans) are carbon based creatures I do not think a few extra carbon atoms are going to effect us much. granted they say these things build up in your body but what is a lethal dose? I may die of benzene poisoning before I hit the lethal dose.
Thanks for the explanation there guy. I think it really isn't a big deal. They are finding all kinds of things bad for you all the time, but they won't tell you how bad a McDee's value meal is, that'll probably kill you before anthing nano- does.
