These days advertisers usually incorporate "sex" when introducing or selling a new product. Their argument for using this ploy is, "it appeals to the sense of sight" and also, "sex sells." How do you feel being bombarded by advertisements that displays more sex rather than promote the product itself? Do you think it is possible to sell a product without using sex? What are your views on this?
Normally when I see the commercials come on I am up and doing things around the house. That is if I am actually watching tv. I think the amount of sexual displays on the tv in ads and in the shows themselves is a little out of hand. I would not be surprised to see a bare breast in the next few years in a show or in a commercial here in the USA. Everyone says it is no big deal and that sex sells the product. Well I am one that says it is a big deal and many people need to look at the direction all of this is headed. I believe it is not heading in the right direction.
On one hand I guess I can't fault advertisers for doing what works, but on the other hand, I feel like if you can't get your message across with images and descriptions of your product, and must instead stage elaborate rock concerts, extreme sports competitions and bikini-clad go-go dancing, then maybe you should rethink how to appropriately market your product in a way that makes sense.
Additionally, I'm a bit of a prude and would prefer we not be besieged by innuendo and bare flesh multiple times per hour, including the family/dinner hour - if that's your thing, there are particular shows, channels, actual locations, social interaction and the internet, all available, without having to place half-naked models hip deep in cake frosting to sell a new pastry.
