No, I don't think so. There are obese people in all areas. Just because someone happens to be religious doesn't mean they will end up obese. I confess some people have issues with self control but I don't think there is a religious link.
I do not think it has anything to do with religion. I think it has more to do with the fact that you tend to hang out with your friends from church more as a group and tend to eat together more thus you may be less active and more prone to the possibility of being slightly over weight. Some churches offer a activity day in the middle of the week to get you out and moving to help possibly combat the spread of the middle.
