alskann, what exactly do you do in the mental health field? You also mention you have many kids, I have three with big hopes of having three more in the future, I would love to read your input in the following threads, I have many questions I am sure you have the answer for. Thanks:Large Families

Introduction Alskann
I am a mental health clinician (LCSW) at an acute care psychiatric hospital. Never a dull moment. We do have 7 kids (his, mine & ours) and it has been a lot of joys and a lot of challenges but we have survived. The youngest is now 19 and getting ready for his mission. I will check out those threads.And (in answer to your comment elsewhere) it DOES get easier after the 3rd for many reasons.

Sorry for my ignorance, what exactly a mental health clinician does?I would love your ideas/thoughts on those threads! One is on the general parenting board (non-LDS) and the other one is LDS related.

Page 2 Introduction Alskann
Pretty much I'm a therapist and social worker all rolled into one. I work with severely mentally ill adults who are comitted to the hospital. Sounds like a quite stressful job.Our oldest child (8) has special needs. He was diagnosed with PDD-NOS, he is very verbal and very challenging (he is not medicated). So even though he is not in the "mental" area, sometimes he seems to be so I can only imagine what you go through with adults!
