PARENTS CAN EASE THE TRANSITION FOR COLLEGE FRESHMEN
After problems getting to class on time and difficulties with a roommate, Bobby Gwizdz told his parents he had enough. The freshman at Michigan State University wanted to quit college and come home. Life at a big university just wasn't for him.

Interesting. My first reaction was that problems getting to class on time and roommate troubles are nowhere near reason enough to quit college! Then I read on to find out that the guy has cerebral palsy, which likely adds quite a bit to the difficulties.
I had trouble getting to class on time for a long time, I suppose I just needed to get up earlier or try to get there early rather than right on time. I've now simplified my morning routine and married an early arriver, which helped a lot.
But I credit my easy transition into college life to my roommates - I've always had good roommates, so I can see how roommates that are difficult to get along with would really change a person's experience dramatically.
I feel that how transition into college has a lot to do with your own personality and needs. If you're clingy and needy you will find college very difficult. If you are independent and self assured then you will adjust right away.
