The Jewish Journey America (Hover)
The hows and whys of Jewish immigration to America are explored via historical records and first-hand accounts, beginning in the mid-17th century. Many Jewish families from Eastern Europe and Russia weren't escaping pogroms, as is often thought, but sought economic opportunity. Others, however, did flee persecution. Persian Jews, for instance, fled Iran after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Among those featured: Holocaust survivor Martin Greenfield, who was on the last transport out of Auschwitz.
