Patriarchal vs Maternal Lines

Is there a favorite line for you like do you rather research your ancestors from your mother's side or your father's side. Even if not researching do you tend to be drawn to the relatives of one side of the family than the other?

Interesting topic. I do get a long with my mother's side of the family than I do with my father's. My mother's side tends to be more down to earth, the way I am so that's why we have more in common.
