21-year-old Jordan Spieth wins Masters in record fashion
After finishing last year tied as runner-up in his Masters debut, Spieth fires 18-under to tie Tiger Woods' mark set in 1997. Spieth, now the second-youngest Masters champion ever, also becomes the first wire-to-wire leader since Raymond Floyd in 1976. This is his first major title in just six tries. Ref. USAToday
US golfer Jordan Spieth won his first British Open on Sunday, beating countryman Matt Kuchar by three shots.
Spieth, 23, overcame a rocky start, shooting a 69 to finish 12-under at the 146th Open at Royal Birkdale.
Spieth now has won three of golf’s top titles, having won the Masters in 2015 followed two months later by the US Open. He heads into next month's PGA Championship looking to become just the sixth golfer in history to achieve a career Grand Slam. Ref. CNN.
