US judge grants 'human rights' to a pair of laboratory chimpanzees:

A New York judge has granted the legal right of habeas corpus to two chimpanzees being held at a biomedical research facility, a decision that animal rights activists have hailed as the first time chimps have been afforded the status of legal "Persons". Ref. Source 4

We can't provide humans with basic human rights so we are now going to give chimps 'human' rights? What a mixed up judicial system.

Next thing we'll give those chimps is a national ID and social security card. This could be just to stop the abuse at the research labs but there could be long term effects to come.

Court Rejects Attempt to Give Chimps Human Rights as Unborn Babies Still Have No Right to Lifetion

Human exceptionalism remains the law in New York as the highest court there has refused to hear an appeal seeking to create chimp personhood. The Court of Appeals ruling rejecting the attempt, now the law of New York because the high court rejected the appeal, could have been written by me. Ref. Source 7a

Chimpanzees recognize one another from their rear ends

It is important for social animals to be able to recognise one another quickly. Humans are able to recognize each other immediately from their faces. Faces are also important for chimpanzees, but a new study shows that the animals' buttocks also play a role. Ref. Source 8b.
