I'm Not A Charity But I Need The Money!
I encountered a unique situation put forward by another parent of an autistic child in Trinidad. An association she belongs to wants to give money to an organization that will help autism. They want to give because the mother has been dedicated to informing them about autism. Fact is, once they give to an NGO the mother who actually needs it will get NOTHING from it because these NGOs tend to be more self-serving by utilizing money to fund what they think is best. My reply to this:
"Charity begins at home". Giving it to an NGO = waste. Ask them to pay for therapy or something your son needs but as I always say - organizations give because they want tax breaks that is why they do not give to individuals. Your thoughts?
