That's interesting Abnninja. The normal Army and other branches would tend to be Lawful Neutral wouldn't you say? They are more about following orders. Your job requires more flexibility I suppose.

Sounds like we're in the same boat Abn. I wish to see the world a better place, but am willing to contemplate somewhat unsavory means in the event I could be confident of their efficacy. Nothing quite like taking an ends justify the means approach only to not get to the ends one desired.

The end justifying the means can lead to some very frightening places. The Soviet Union had a noble goal of an equal society and fairness. From each according to his ability to each according to his need is a good overall principle. They then slaughtered or starved millions of people to death trying to achieve their utopia.

Precisely the problem with actually acting under those conditions, especially on a large scale. I'm not of the opinion that the ends the soviet union wanted justified their means, and they didn't even reach that consolation prize.

Had they not gone quite as far as they (Stalin in particular) did, the utopia they envisioned might have been worth the cost.

But it was a pipe dream from the start, they should have known it would never work.

Yes, the vast majority of the military is LN in alignment. I was in units that had quite a bit more leeway due to the unconventional nature of our missions.

And yes, the USSR would be a prime example of taking this way too far. What they strove for also goes against human nature, it inhibits the compunction to strive when striving doesn't lead to some type of personal benefit. Sure, a global goal is great but humans want some gain of a personal nature too. Most people aren't altruistic enough to recognize that a gain for all is noble and should be enough.

Definitely a summoner of some sorts so I can call up creatures to do all the hard work for me. While they are engaged I can then make either my own attack as well or find interesting things to plunder.
