Their last baby is 8 months old and Michelle (42) and Jim Bob are now expecting their baby #19. At the same time, their oldest son and his wife are expecting as well a girl for October. Michelle does not worry about health risks with pregnancies at her age, so she opts out of prenatal testing. This is her reason:
Their baby #19 was born on December 10th prematurely. She was supposed to born in March. She weighed 1 lb., 6 oz. Michelle Duggar's doctors said the baby was born prematurely because Michelle suffered from preeclampsia, a rare condition during pregnancy that causes high blood pressure. The baby is doing okay taking into consideration her age and circumstances.
The husband said the following:
The Duggars have won the 2009 National Parents of the Year Award. Their last baby still in the hospital and despite the complications, they said they will continue allowing God to be in charge with regards to their family size no matter whether the babies will have special needs or not. They said they believe if they born with special needs the Lord will help them deal with those challenges.
After nearly four months in neonatal intensive care, their baby number 19, Josie Brooklyn, is finally leaving the hospital. All the best to the Duggars.
