This is former Elder Seamons, I finally have the opportunity to visit my mission stomping grounds this summer (mid July to be more specific). I haven't been there for 8 years, so I am wondering what to expect as far as cost of transportation and the ease of contacting members I worked with in the Couva and Port of Spain areas.
First I recieved a tip from the only Trini I've known since my mission that everything is probably 3 x's more expensive than when I was there. How much is taxi, maxi taxi, and bus fare to get around the island? My friend also was irate that doubles have jumped to $4 TT.
Next, how can I get a hold of members in the branches that I served? Sadly LDS.org does not allow you to find contact information on members outside your distrct/stake boundaries. I have only a couple of addresses of people I knew, but who knows if they even live there anymore; plus mail can easily get lost during its week long journey.
If any RMs have any suggestions of what they did or wish that they did while revisiting the West Indies please share.
I want to visit as many people as I can, but I know that my wife wants to do some touristy stuff too. Any suggestions toward this would be appreciated also.
Let me know what you think my RM and Trini friends and I'll talk to you later.
Keep it Light!,
Elder Seamons
