Hey, good to see that there's interest. The rules I have for creating a character are on the first post of this thread. And, if you don't have the books, you might be able to find a reference on the net, or you could let me know what type of thief you want to play and I can help you build it. That is, do you want to be super sneaky, able to pick any lock, or some type of combination?
I don't really know what kind of thief I want to be. Probably best to be an all-rounder. Here's my stats (I rolled them with physical dice, I hope that's ok): 20, 19, 18, 20, 15, 16. Just creating my character just now. His name is Davik Smithson, and he is a Halfling blacksmith of some skill. He has two apprentices, and has a secondary job crafting locks for the city he is in. I don't know how to do the skills, though. I'm imagining Blacksmithing is a skill, and maybe a merchant skill as well, to reflect my trade?
Double check the dice roll instructions again. You should roll 4d6 and drop the lowest die giving you a total of 3d6 in your stat. So, the highest you could have is an 18.
After you've done that, you should subtract 1 from your strength score and add 1 to your dexterity score. (You can assign your six stats as you'd like)
Then, the thief skills are:
Skill Base Score
Pick Pockets 15%
Open Locks 10%
Find/Remove Traps 5%
Move Silently 10%
Hide in Shadows 5%
Detect Noise 15%
Climb Walls 60%
Read Languages 0%
Then you can add 60 total points to the skills above as you see fit, but no more than 30 points can be added to any one skill. There will be some more adjustments for race and dexterity score after you're done that I'll let you know about.
Once you have that updated, I'll give you rest of the details that you'll need to know.

Hey Dungeon Master, on that page you actually don't say to drop the lowest die you just said you can re-roll "1". Might want to edit that. .
Do I keep those stats, or do you want me to reroll all of them (I didn't drop the lowest, but I no longer have the original scores)?
Hmm, too late to edit the post. I guess I'll have to be more pro-active in letting people know that.
As far as the scores are concerned, you'll have to re-roll them. But, if you don't roll them, I'll let you change one of the skills to an 18 and one to a 17. But, like I said, if you roll an 18, then you can't assign another 18. Same with the 17. You can change one to a 17 as long as you don't roll one.
How's that sound?
I'll change my Dexterity to an 17 (With +1 Halfling bonus, that'll be an 18, I can't go higher than 18 due to being a Halfling) and put the 18 in Charisma. Here's my other scores, re-rolled: 13, 15, 16, 13.

Looking good. Looks like you've added racial and Dexterity adjustments to your thieving skills?
Also, you get 6 HP at first level. With your +1 Con modifier that puts you at 7. Then, since we'll start you out at 2nd level, you get to roll another d6 for HP and add your +1. You also get to add 30 more points to your thief skills. Again, no one ability can get more than 15 points from this adjustment.
