Hunter says, "Alright, there is something there and we're not going to be part of its meal so let's see if we can get somewhere on dry ground."
He backs away from the water always facing it in case something decides to attack. He maintains his rear position as the others walk out.
The party successfully makes it back to the first cave entrance (Area 32). But, as they do, the squeaking from overhead becomes more agitated.
Hunter is able to tell that although the noise is similar, it's not the same as a bat's. Whatever is overhead may resemble a bat, but you all get the feeling that they aren't bats.
Ardo prepares his shield and Warhammer. "Delgar or Jess, can you spark a torch up I have a sick feeling we are going to find something that doesn't like us in here."
Hunter does not take a defensive position. In fact, anything above his head isn't a good thing. He starts firing arrows randomly above or at anything that moves if he can see in a preemptive measure.
Jess lights a torch as requested. Once she does, the flair of light disturbs the 12 stirges that were roosting on the ceiling.
They fly into a flurry and attack. Hunter is able to get off two shots, but in all of the confusion, both arrows miss their marks. Drethen, on the other hand is able to take one out before they are able to attack anyone. Delgar, thinking quickly, casts Sleep on the stirges causing six of them to drop to the floor.
Of the five remaining, one attacks Jess and stick in her back like a hungry mosquito. A second one is able to sting Ardo (2hp).
Out of Character: I guess my other two rolls are still good? I will include more here. Aren't the bugbears in the battle too? Last one, where is our mage?
In Character: Hunter aims for the stirge on Jess while shouting to the bugbears, "Attack".
