Jess leads the way down the hallway as it cuts back between going east and south. After a couple of turns, the corridor runs straight south for about thirty feet with a ten foot niche to the west.
At the end of the corridor, there's a door on the east wall. The corridor is bare and there doesn't appear to be anything else in it.
In Character: Hunter looks over the way everything is angled and says, "We need to check what's on that bend to the south west just before the door, something could be hiding there or a trap."
"Drethen I'll cover the niche, you watch the door. " Ardo then walks a few steps toward the niche making sure if something pounces out he is ready.
Jess is unable to find anything in the hallway and the niche appears to be vacant.
From what you can determine, there are no traps or anything else in this hallway.
The door is average looking. It's made of wood with iron hinges and strips of metal running across the door and binding the planks of wood together. It is locked but it appears to be in good condition.
Jess is able to pick the lock, but it takes her a little longer than she expected and may have made too much noise in doing so.
With everybody at the ready, the door swings outward into the corridor. This spartan apartment looks more like a prison cell than living quarters. The room's contents are few: a simple bed, neatly made, a shelf holding a pitcher and cup, a good-sized mirror mounted on the wall, a bracket holding a scourge, and an empty armor-stand. Strangest of all, a stone statue of a horse, complete with real saddlebags, stands to one side, taking up fully half the room.
Standing in front of the mirror facing the door is a rather large human male. He's approximately 6'7" wearing black plate mail. He carries a shield and a long sword. He wears a beard, neatly trimmed. In fact, it seems you may have disturbed him in the middle of grooming it.
Once the door is open he calls out, "Who dares disturb me?!? If you're here for a challenge, you will certainly find it this day! Now prepare to die like the dogs that you are!"
With that, he stands ready to attack whoever is foolish enough to approach him.
Hunter, most surprised by this knows there are two choices: fight or lock the door back. In a place like this fighting sounds good so he starts firing some arrows.
