Davik, seeing the decline in the number of valid targets for his bow, put it over his shoulder, drawing the warhammer instead. He aims to stay on the edge of the combat, attacking where he cannot be swarmed if possible.
Out of Character: are there any doors behind the altar where a priest might go to prepare sermons?).
"No, not Ralph. Bleredd help me smite these undead and seek vengence for the death of the bugbear!"
Hunter laughs at the comedians around him, first Jude and now the Bugbear, he wonders if either is taking these events seriously or he is merely in some weird dream that he will soon wake up from. Grateful for the feeling of being restored Hunter says, "Thank you sir" and continues fighting as though Jude said nothing.
Seeing one of his companions fall did help lead Gabriel to finally make a solid blow and take out one of the skeletons, it also cast doubt on their situation somewhat any calls to the others, "Should we fall back, regroup and maybe try a different strategy?"
Still as he asked the paladin did not stop fighting and continued to try and strike down the undead before him until he had a confirmation from the others on what else should be done. He would rather not see any of the rest of his companions fall, and because of this he actually calls to Jude so asking, "Please, no more preaching. Let us all focus on what needs to be done so that no others need fall."
Thirteenth and Fourteenth rounds.
Davik forces his way into the fight where the bugbear stood, wielding his borrowed hammer. He manages to finish off a zombie with a wild swing while noticing a passage in the southwest corner of the room which could possibly lead to a head cleric’s quarters. (I rolled your attack and damage as your post was missing them.)
Ardo, feeling the pain of Ralph’s loss, is unable to get a solid hit on his opponent. Feeling refreshed, Hunter picks up the energy in his attacks and overwhelms the zombie in front of him. Drethen strikes the skeleton before him, but his sword doesn’t do quite enough damage to take it down.
Gabriel calls out as he strikes the zombie in front of him. Jude replies by saying, “If you weren’t of such a violent mind, you wouldn’t be in this situation in the first place.”
Jess manages to take out the zombie that Gabriel damaged and one of the bugbears shatters the skeleton that was attacking him.
As the last of the undead take their places on the front line, a fresh skeleton steps up in front of Hunter and manages to catch him with his sword (4hp). A zombie takes out a second bugbear and the zombie that took its place in front of Davik manages to hit him as well (6hp). The undead finish off their round by hitting Gabriel (5hp).
Davik, smarting from the zombie’s attack, reaches down deep inside of himself and swings with such mighty force that his hammer smashes the creature’s head to a pulp as if it were a watermelon. Ardo, still smarting from Ralph’s loss, is still unable to effectively damage the creature in front of him. Hunter, on the other hand, is able to damage the skeleton that he’s facing.
Drethen, possibly letting up now that the wave of undead is subsiding(?), attacks the skeleton in front of him, just barely being able to finish it off as Gabriel completely misses his mark.
Jess is able to finish off the zombie in front of Ardo as the remaining bugbear, starting to show signs of fatigue as he battles the undead and starts to realize he’s the last of his group left, misses the undead before him.
The undead fill the gaps in their lines with their final reinforcements. As they take their last gasps, they are able to hit Davik (1hp) and Gabriel (4hp).
Out of Character: Wasn't sure if switching weapons and looking for the door used up my actions.
In Character: I make a mental note to check that passage after the undead are gone and keep swinging.
