Hunter, knowing that there was more here than just dead bodies, lashes out with his magic sword hoping to punish the beings back to their dimension.
Out of Character: Honestly, is there going to be any creatures in this game that will be susceptible to a sneak Attack.
In Character: Davik carefully retreats from the shadow, drawing his bow as he does, but not attacking until he is out of melee range. At the same time, he tries to recall any information about these creatures.
Out of Character: Are there any close together that I can use the oil on. I may as well use it.
Ardo sees his companions attack and he joins the frasy stepping up beside Delgar and attacking.
Delgar jumps back behind ardo in surprise as the shadow comes to life and touches him, he can feel his life force being drained out of him. Gathering his wits he prepares to cast a magic missle spell at the shadow that just attacked him.
Out of Character: I don't know why I rolled a d20 for initiative. I haven't even been playing 5th edition recently. Here's the reroll.
The shadow in front of Ardo attacks him, but misses due to Ardo’s positive energy. Drethen throws a vial of holy water on the shadow in front of him. The vial passes through the creature and breaks on the floor at its feet. Since the creature doesn’t have a corporeal form, the water passes through the shadow without any noticeable effects.
As Davik backs away from the shadow on him, he leaves an opening for the creature to attack (5hp plus one point of strength lost, temporarily). Once he’s far enough away, he fires two arrows at the creature. The arrows seem to pass through the shadowy form without effecting the creature at all.
Ardo swings his mace, but the elusive shadow form evades getting hit. Gabriel is torn between joining the fray and keeping Tishpak guarded. In the end, he decides that keeping Tishpak from breaking free and joining the fray, or escaping, is better at this point than taking the chance of letting him get away. Besides, his companions haven’t proven yet that they really need his help.
Jude, seeing the fight and realizing these are mindless creatures from another plane of existence, pulls out his holy symbol and shouts, “Be gone you foul creatures!” However, the shadows don’t even seem to notice him.
Delgar casts his magic missile on the creature attacking him. The glowing streaks of magic shoot out and hit the monster causing it to shrink back in pain. Taking the opportunity, Delgar gets away from it and retreats back into the hallway hoping the fighters in the group are better equipped to deal with the foes.
Delgar’s shadow, not wanting to chase a fleeing target when so many other opportunities exist, gangs up on Hunter. Luckily, Hunter is able to avoid both creature’s attacks, but is unable to hit either of them while defending both foes. The shadow that Davik ran away from easily catches up to him and attacks, but with Davik being ready for it, he’s able to avoid the creature’s touch. The remaining shadow attacking Drethen is unable to get past his enchanted armor.
Round 2:
Davik, having little other options, fires off two more arrows that pass harmlessly through the shadow. Hunter, still under attack by two of the creatures, is also unable to get a solid blow on either one.
Meanwhile, Davik is unable to avoid the shadow’s touch this time as the icy hand passes through him (3hp and minus one strength). Drethen is able to get a solid hit on his opponent, but since his sword lacks any enchantment, the weapon passes harmlessly through the creature, same as his vial of holy water did. Ardo also attacks, but his mace is unable to make contact with one of the creatures.
Delgar takes a moment to gather his wits as he is relieved that the creature didn’t pursue him. The remaining shadows miss their targets, with the exception of one of the shadow’s attacking Hunter. The creature somehow scratches its way through a seam in Hunter’s armor and he too now feels the cold, icy touch of these creatures (4hp and minus one strength).
