Out of Character: : A potion of animal friendship costs 300gp. You'll have to ask for prices on any other potions you wish to buy.
In Character: : Davik tracks the rust monster as its trail leads across the road to the south. The trail ends at the edge of the river on the south side of the road where Davik finds the remains of Rusty. He appears to have been killed by a group of large humanoid creatures.
The tracks of the humanoid creatures leads south into the river. At this point, it appears that the river is shallow enough to cross.
Out of Character: Well, I did say I bought the potion before I left town, so I'll mark off that 300 and put the Animal Friendship potion in my inventory. Is the bank a thing that would be available in every town, so I could get my money out elsewhere? If not, I'd like to give a password for my account to them, and give it to my apprentice so she can get it out and use it to improve the Smithy, sending her another magical message to tell her this.
In Character: Davik mourns Rusty, vowing to return and Bury him once those that killed him are dealt with, and continues to track the large humanoids, taking any opportunity to hide himself from any that might see him.
Out of Character: I go into stealth.

"Greyhawk seems like a good option… I may even be able to buy something worthwhile there. Meanwhile, I will take a nap… wake me when you are actually traveling there."
Davik crosses the river and follows the tracks towards a copse of trees. Before he gets there, the tracks become muddled and he's no longer able to follow them directly. But, he's able to determine that whoever left the tracks is traveling in a general southeast direction and entered the woods.
Entering the woods himself, hoping to pick up on the trail again, Davik discovers a small group of gnolls with a hyena. The group seems to be sitting around talking. As he watches, one of them sticks its long nose up in the air and whispers something in an urgent tone to his fellows who also quickly stick their noses in the air. As they sniff, the slowly turn in Davik's direction.
Davik draws his Longsword and Shield and prepares for combat, his anger at the death of his fallen friend overcoming all logic.
As Ardo is training his horse he notices Davik leaving the keep with a hop in his step and a smile on his face. Ardo thinks to himself idiot must be going to train that Rust Monster. With a wave he shouts out "Good luck, Davik!" and continues training his horse in some commands.
Out of character: Not sure if I would be close enough to hear Davik's screams when he found Rusty was missing.
Out of Character: : Davik is now about a mile from the keep. It's extremely doubtful that anybody would know what his situation is unless they were following him. Since nobody did, it's assumed he's taking on five gnolls and a hyena by himself.
In Character: : The gnolls and the hyena realize Davik's presence just as he's readying for combat. The hyena charges, but Davik is able to block its attack with his shield. Trying to catch it off balance, Davik attacks the hyena but misses the creature as it speeds by him.
The gnolls pick up their longbows and each fire a volley of arrows at Davik. Ducking behind his shield, he's able to avoid the majority of the arrows, but two find their mark (12hp damage total).
The hyena turns and gets ready to charge again as the gnolls get ready to fire again.
As Davik takes this damage in the chest, he snaps out of his blood rage. He realises exactly what he had been doing. Realising he is outnumbered and alone, he makes a silent vow that he would return and begins running towards where he saw Ardo earlier.
Out of Character: Davik would like to spend this turn running away as fast as he can. If he can somehow slip into the shadows and disappear, he will do so.
