As the party was not able go more than 5' into the cave, any moving back will take the character outside of the cave. As a result, Thane's next move will take him out of the cave.
Out of Character: But I will still be in firing range just not in melee range. Maybe there should be a layout for this so everyone can see what is happening.
As the party continues to back up so they don't get swarmed I will load another bullet into my sling and attack tryiing to aim for one out of melee if they get that close so as not to risk hitting a party member. Then I will look around outside to make sure there is nothing sneaking up behind us from the outside
Correct. The short range of a bow is 50'. Your character could not move far enough in one round to get outside of your own bow range. So yes, you will move outside of the cave but will still be able to shoot through the open door.
As Ardo scoots outside with the rest of the group he readies his darts, he looks around to see if there is any high ground from which to stay out of the fighters way.. “I am just booking off to the side guys, I’ll try not to hit you with my darts but realize if the skeletons start to come towards me I am going to keep moving to stay away from them.”

I had change the view based on dimensions, but I posted a 'battlemap' to the maps section. This shows the cave with the skeletons and each of your characters. There are 19 skeletons left and each square is 5' which is also the amount of space that each character takes up.
Still need to know if Oberon and Rethal are going to remain toe-to-toe with the skeletons.
Oberon stands shoulder to shoulder with Rethal forming a barrier. We will try to back up to where we are just in the door frame, using the structure of the room to limit the number of attackers a once and preventing us from being flanked. The dwarf is for once grateful for his short stature as it should let the missile attacks of his compatriots be easily targeted over his head.
Out of Character: : I think he has an extra attack this round so I will roll twice. If not, just ignore the second one.
