Hunter feels that shooting at branches may not have the desired effect so he pulls out his sword.
Taking a brief moment to apologize softly to Fuascailt, Gabriel draws his long sword and begins hack at the branches. The paladin's thoughts being a blade would be better then a morningstar in this situation.
After Hunter alerts them and the party sees the branches moving, Ardo reacts quickly swinging his mace. He’s able to shatter one of the branches reaching for him, but there still seems to be a forest of branches reaching for each party member. Three branches grab hold of Davik. They don’t seem to hurt the thief, but they begin pulling him off of the path into the vegetation.
As far as you can tell, there seem to be a total of four branches reaching for each of you. Drethen reacts to the branches with two mighty swings, severing two of the branches. Gabriel, using his normal long sword, is unable to hit any of the four branches reaching for him. Hunter reacts to this branches by swinging his sword, but he’s not as successful as Drethen. His sword chops at one of the branches and takes a chunk out of it, but it still manages to grab hold of him and starts dragging him into the woods, as well.
Delgar, unsure of how to deal with this foe, swings his staff. He catches one of the branches at a weak point and is able to snap it in half. Of the remaining three branches, one is able to catch Delgar and he too is forced towards the vegetation. Of the three branches that are still attacking Ardo, one of them grabs him as well. Gabriel finds that two of his four branches have been able to grab him. Of the two branches still attacking Drethen, one gets lucky and snags him as well. As Davik is dragged off the path, he swings with his sword, but is unable to hit the branch.
As Ardo is being dragged, he manages to swing his mace, shattering the branch. He is now left to deal with two remaining branches while he’s trying to get his bearings off of the path. Drethen also swings his sword at the branch dragging him. He’s able to sever it and when he does, the last remaining branch that was attacking him drops to the ground, lifeless. It would seem that there are four branches per creature attacking the party and Drethen has managed to finish off his attacker.
Gabriel continues to swing at the branch dragging him through the underbrush, but is unable to bring his sword to bear. Hunter is also unable to bring his sword to bear on the branch that is dragging him into the woods, but he at least can be satisfied in seeing the tree sap continue to run freely from the wound that he cut into one of the branches that’s attacking him.
Delgar and Davik each are unable to damage the branches dragging them.
As Hunter, Delgar, Davik, and Gabriel are drug through the vegetation, they see that they are being drug towards a set of trees. As they get closer, they see a large slit open in each of the tree trunks. The slips open into a gapping maw. If they aren’t able to free themselves in the next round, they will surely be drug into the open mouths of these creatures and eaten.
Hunter isn't playing gardening anymore, he intends to make these branches part of some place's firewood stockpile.
Gabriel redoubled his attack, hacking as a at the branches, and trying to get them to let him go. The paladin wondered if he'd regret not using Fuascailt, but focuses on the attack as well on the beaches that had hold of him.
Davik, a little she'll shocked after the first branches attacked him, drew his Longsword and swung at the branches holding him.
"The Willow Man will not claim me today,"
"I used to love the forest and trees, now not so much. Why is everything trying to kill us in this place."
Drethen free will head to help The closest person to him. He will attack the branches holding that person in hopes of freeing him. IF he gets free before Drethen gets there he will continue to the next person in hopes that we can kill these trees that want to kill us.
