With a nod to Ardo and Drethen, the paladin will reply, "I suspected as much. If you will have me, I will follow so you have more support." Gabriel is uncertain if talking care of the situation now is a good idea, but the two seemed decided.

The party makes its way to the abbey. It takes about ten minutes as the abbey is located next to a city park several city blocks from the tavern.
As you arrive at the abbey, you spot a dark snaky figure climb the wall of the abbey and a serpent like tail disappears through the top most window of the tallest tower of the building.
In a clearing next to the abbey, several men are gathered around. Several of them are lying on the ground and in the bright light of the comet, you can see that they are bleeding. Some of the men on the ground lay lifeless but all are injured in some manner or other.
When one of the men sees you, he waves and calls you over. "The beast! The beast attacked us and escaped into the tower! You must help kill it before it gets away!"
Hunter runs up offering assistance while saying, "Do not worry, we will get it, which way will get us up there?" Hunter asks with the hope of getting to the beast in the shortest time possible while pointing to the last place the beast was seen. He then follows the directions.
Gabriel nods at there call for them to help kill the beasts and says, "We will help you, but what about your injured? So many of you are badly hurt." The paladin is hesitant in leaving them in their current state, despite the urgency of their words, though he was ready to draw his morningstar and go towards the tower.

The man calls back to Gabriel with an urgent tone in his voice, "If we don't stop that beast, more will be hurt and dead than just these few!"
Taking the man's urging, Gabriel follows the rest into the abbey and up the spiraling stairs to the top of the tallest tower.
At the top of the stairs the party finds the door to the Abbot's room. Quickly opening the door for fear that the creature may have attacked the abbot, the party finds a room sparsely furnished but with a bed, desk, and several bookshelves running around the walls.
The room has a single window that allows a stream of light from the comet to shine through along the edge of one wall covering about a quarter of the floor. The rest of the room is lit only by a couple of candles.
A man is standing next the bed in a black-cowled robe. He looks somewhat confused as if he'd been woken from a deep sleep but not sure by what or why.
As you enter, he looks up at you and says, "Who… who are you and what are you doing in my room?"
Drethen looks at the man. "We just saw a serpent monster enter this room via that window. Many men were killed or injured fighting this beast. Seeing only you here now means that you are the beast or it has control over you. What do you say to this sir?"
