As Drethen moves towards the passage in the back of the cavern, he hears a roar coming from it that sounds like it's a little distance away, not right at the entrance to the cavern, but about 100' deep in the cave.
It seems that something else lives in the cave and it has detected your presence…
Drethen tells the others. We are not alone in here as he has his sword out and his shield ready to meet this new challenge as soon as it comes within striking range.
Out of Character: he gets two attacks per round so rolling for two rounds.
Ardo prepares for combat. "Guess we couldn't find an empty cave to wait out the storm." Ardo steps up beside Drethen ready with his shield and mace. "Hello creature we mean no harm we are just waiting out the storm." Looking at Gabriel and Drethen, ardo mutters "It's worth a try maybe the creature speaks common."
Gabriel will also prepare for an attack, but also call out, "If you can understand us, we mean not to have intrude upon your home. We entered here because of the storm outside, it would have swept us away. We have been through trying times, and would rather not fight unless forced to." The paladin will take Fuascailt in his hand, gripping the weapon's handle firmly.
Out of Character: : I will have two attacks prepared, just in cast they are needed.

The party gathers around the opening to the tunnel leading out of the back of the cavern. As they wait, a large troll charges out of the darkness at them. Needless to say, their calls of greetings and peace are left unanswered.
Gabriel reacts the quickest but Fuascailt swings past the creature as Gabriel flinches out of the beast's way. Drethen lays into the monster next creating two large gashes in the troll.
Taking it personally, the monster attacks Drethen with two large claws for hands as well as attempting to bite him. As luck would have it, the beast misses its mark all three times.
Ardo is last to act being the most caught off guard. He swings his mace damaging the beast, but not doing enough damage to kill the monster.
Gabriel swings Fuascailt again, this time connecting on the creatures hide. Gabriel feels the satisfied 'thunk' of the weapon, but still the beast continues its attack.
That is until Drethen is able to lay into the monster again. Drethen's sword is finally able to lay the beast low as it falls to the ground, unmoving.
"Yes, though I wonder how big of a fire we would have to make for the troll not to come back," Came the reply, and Gabriel will light a torch before placing the flames over the wounds inflicted. Even taking the edge of a blade to make sure the flames go deep.
