Ardo adjusts his back pack, rolls up his cloak and takes off his hat and places them in his back pack. Gets his flint and steel out and a torch and ignites it. "Well gentleman we need to find a horde of coins today, I am hoping they are in here. I have a few heal spells for today. Is there a marching order? Also should we get separated do we want to designate this spot as a meeting point or back at the keep?"
Ardo looks around to make sure no troll is about to follow them into this cave.
"Before we make the same mistakes like last time let's do this the proper way..."
Thane puts his thief skills to use by first walking in as far as possible without light while trying to hear any sounds.
Out of Character: : Maybe I missed it, but what cave are you all going to investigate? I don't think I saw anybody specify and one in particular.
Out of Character: From the previous posts it would seem to me that it was the last one where the troll was - they can't get enough of the thing.
Out of character: by no means are we going in the troll cave my character was pointing away from it, we want a cave that is almost completely opposite from the troll cave.
Delgar chooses a cave that is on the same level as the goblin cave, but on the opposite side of the ravine.
With Thane leading, the cave mouth is five and a half feet high by five feet wide, room for just one person to pass at a time and requiring tall characters to duck. Inside you see only darkness. However, the passage quickly doubles in height and breadth, allowing you to stand up and march two abreast, if you wish. Only twenty feet from the entrance the passage comes to a "T". The way ahead is blocked, but new passages lead off to the right and left. Diagonally to your right, you can see a small alcove that appears to serve as a guard station. A small humanoid creature with scaly skin and a pronounced muzzle is seated there in a crude chair, a spear gripped tightly in one hand, staring balefully in your direction.
Thane signals to the party what he sees. He curses himself for not having a cloak at the moment to hide in the shadows but he also wonders if he could not just take out the guard with his bow. He whispers and asks for confirmation first.
Ilthin, his pulse racing, gestures for Thane to go ahead. Until now he has always been the defender of the keep. Now, it is his turn to lead the attack against his enemies.
His hands are sweaty gripping the pommel of his sword and the straps of his shield.
