As the party gathers their things and recovers from the encounter, the patrol from the keep reaches their location.
The patrol asks about the party's health, what happened, and takes a report of what happened along with a brief description of the bandits.
The only response they can provide is that the description fits with what waylaid merchants had provided about their assailants.
The patrol then offers to escort the party back to the keep, should they desire it.
The patrol leader thanks Drethen for the information and informs him that the keep has long suspected that was where the bandits were hiding, but given the keeps limited resources they are in no condition to be able to do anything about them. The keep just recently started patrolling the road again and that was just to hopefully catch them outside of their caves where they might be a little more vulnerable.
Agreed let's head back to the keep with the patrol again thanks for saving us from a horrible fate we can try to rescue thane but I don't know if those half kings would actually go back to the same place and those evil clerics who knows where they are holding up.
"I question the wisdom of trying to find and take on those priests, Saving Thane, but perhaps such a quest would go well," Jonathon would say, considering the party's choices before agreeing, "Returning to the keep for now I feel is for the best.". Edited: Thomaslee on 24th Jan, 2016 - 12:00am
The patrol accompanies the party back to the keep. Before you all can go about your business, you must once again check in with the captain of the guard to provide your statements and give a record of your encounter.
Once you make your way back to the tavern, you find that your party's fame is beginning to grow as you are recognized by a couple of people as the group that is 'cleaning up the area'.
As it is, the bartender at the tavern buys you all a round of drinks to congratulate you on your success and to express condolences on the loss of Thane.
