U.S. Researchers have just completed a national study on the factors linked to satisfaction with appearance and weight. In a survey of more than 12,000 Americans adults, the questions focused on personality, beliefs about romantic relationships, self-esteem, television viewing, and personal characteristics. Ref. Discrimination Based on Weight Doubles Health Risks
How society treats overweight people makes health matters worse, a new study has found. Among the findings, authors note that people who experience weight discrimination often shun social interaction and skip doctor visits. Ref. Source 8l.
I find it sad that in this day of age people just can not understand that men and women, boy and girls all come in different shapes and sizes. What is normal for one person is not always normal for another. No one will look the same as another. Whether is be height, weight or body shape. For one to shame another over any difference is wrong. I think this is a big part of what is wrong in the world today. People should embrace each other on their difference as that helps set them apart. If we all looked the same then we might as be robots instead of individuals.
A new survey shows 94 percent of teen girls and 64 percent of teen boys have been ridiculed over how they look. Among adults, 90 percent say someone mocked an aspect of their appearance — most common targets are bellies and legs. The survey was conducted for sports and exercise equipment rating company Fit Rated. Source 4v.
