I just realized the Arizona Cardinals didn't have a thread so I figured I'd open up one for them. Especially with the big news today that former Colts RB Edgerrin James just signed a 4-year $30 million US contract with them. This has got to be one of the biggest signings in Cardinals history, and will be a huge boost to the team. With Kurt Warner as QB and two top tier Receivers, this may be the Edge they need. I crack myself up!
James agrees to deal with Arizona
QUOTE |
As first reported by FOXSports.com's Jay Glazer, Edgerrin James ran off to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, agreeing to a four-year, $30 million contract with one of the NFL's weakest teams. The deal will pay James $14.75 million in the first year through salary, signing bonus and roster bonus. James, who became a free agent after seven seasons with the Colts, knew there was little chance he would return to Indianapolis when the season ended in a loss to Pittsburgh in the AFC divisional round |
I hope so. Ive been a Cardinals fan since they moved here to Phoenix. We got a brand new, state of the art, stadium. Cardinal fans are gun shy and its been year after year of disappointment. We always start the season saying maybe this year. Well one can always hope.
The Arizona Cardinals have drafter USC QB Matt Leinart. It was shocking to me that he dropped all the way to 10th pick overall, but I believe this will be in his best interest, as he gets to play alongside Edgerrin James, and get coached by Dennis Green. Remember, Green was the one who brought both Culpepper and Moss to Minnesota and built one of the best QB/WR tandems in the league. The Cardinals already have some top, young receivers, and with the addition of Leinart, they can only become better.
This is only my second post since my introductory post. One way to get me talking is to talk about the Arizona Cardinals. I have been a (disappointed) Arizona Cardinal fan dating all the way back to when they were the St. Louis Cardinals. I have to say, they have made moves that have gotten me excited but only to disappoint me later. I'm talking about Jake Plummer, Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald, Dennis Green and Kurt Warner. I was ecstatic when Buddy Ryan took half of the Eagles defense over to Arizona and promised a Super Bowl. What a farce. I remember him walking back to the locker room before the game was even over in his last game as their coach. He was ashamed and rightfully so. It seems no matter what kind of talent the team has, they have a curse that keeps them playing like the Arizona Cardinals always have. Granted they had some Super Bowl years that my grandpa might remember but since then they have been the joke of the NFL. I am still a fan though. It embarrasses me to tell people that but I hope one day I will be proud to say that I have been a fan all of my life when they dominate the league and the fair weather fans claim they are true fans. Again, this year I feel nervous about saying this, but this could be the year. With Kurt, Matt, Fitzgerald, Boldin, Edge and an improving defense they really could be tough. If you are another team's fan looking forward to this year's sure win against Arizona... don't be so sure this year.
