Shooting Of Samuel Dubose (Hover)
Former University of Cincinnati Police Officer Ray Tensing pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of murder and voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of Samuel DuBose.
Tensing fatally shot DuBose during a July 19 traffic stop over an alleged missing license tag. The former officer said he was forced to fire his weapon after almost being run over.
Video of the shooting, caught on Tensing's body camera, appears to contradict his version of events. While announcing charges in the case Wednesday, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters called the shooting "Asinine" And "Totally unwarranted." Ref. CNN
University of Cincinnati police officer accused of killing driver out of jail, free on bond
Former University of Cincinnati police officer Ray Tensing, 25, is out of jail on bond less than eight hours after pleading not guilty in the shooting death of Samuel DuBose, 43, a man he pulled over for a missing front license plate. Tensing's bond had been set at $1 million. Ref. USAToday
I think the bail was set very high due to peoples reaction to police right now. After watching the video I am not sure why the officer shot but in the same token why was the victim trying to get away? If he would have cooperated fully he would still be alive. But that side of the story we will not ever know. Only one shot was fired and I do not think the officer was trying to kill him.
