Yeah, it seems each generation wants things faster than the last. My generation didn't have the patience of the greatest generation and the generations after me think I'm way too patient. I'll save and save and wait before I get something. I guess with the generations of today registering from a social site is a must. What is the percentage that comes from social versus old school?
Facebook Users may of had some troubles with Login / Registering. This should be fixed now allowing all to use the Facebook button to join / access their account. If you still experience trouble please let us know. Users accessing via other social network sites weren't affected.
A new User was kind enough to inform us about an error in the Google Login that has been corrected.
We also noticed that if you edit Facebook allowance settings before joining then it cannot be undone so the error message for FB has been changed to prompt manual Registration.
The Social Login system is proving to be a pain at times. At first, we installed it as a way to have people register quickly without going through our default form but of recent the APIs for the social networks have been changing and what is worst is people register with default Email addresses that they no longer use, check or filter. We are considering phasing the system out so they just use the manual Login / Registration procedures but not just yet.
I have added in code to make Deleting an account just as easy as creating one through the Social buttons. This is necessary because many do not use an accurate Email address or use a special Email that they do not want tied to the Community.
Social registration APIs can be troublesome and with the recent announcement of Google+ shutting down (see here) and Facebook restructuring their requirements for API login we have made the decision to remove these third party login procedures altogether.
What does this mean for you as a Member? It means that soon you will have to login manually rather than through Facebook or Google. If you originally registered that way then at some point you will need to use the 'forget password' procedure to get a login password.
