According to TV6 News Yakini Charles, a Tranquility Government School student, was shot to death while walking along St Andrew Lane, Belmont after being sent home because his uniform was not compliant with school's standards. Yakini Charles was only 12-13 years old.

The Ministry of Education is examining the procedure of sending students home and if parents are informed.
