Kamla Persad-Bissessar & Autism

When Pandora first started an active campaign some months ago by going on social media using her Blog to address the inadequate resources for those on the Autism Spectrum many liked but expressed no hope for any change. Padora's Blog entry: Open Letter To The Honourable Prime Minister made it to the newspapers, the PM's desk and a couple of Ministries.

The quick knee jerk reaction was to have the Ministries involved call us and promise to get our view in a meeting. Instead, there seemed to be a 'secret' meeting held involving another popular Autism based organization where whatever was presented had no influence by the parents who deal with this daily. The result was the honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar coming out with "Autism Centre" As a solution. You see in this country unless you're a 'big' organization no one wants to hear you. APATT was formed, and elections is around the corner. Another meeting was held with the honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar where she said this:

international QUOTE (Newsday)
The Prime Minister said the State will extend its laptop in schools programme to persons who are differently-abled, introduce a register of persons with disabilities and will bring legislation to tackle the issue. She was speaking at a luncheon hosted by the Rotary Club, held at the Goodwill Industries Building, Fitzblackman Drive, Port-of-Spain. Ref. Source 3f

What are your thoughts? My children are supposed to get a laptop / tablet if you are giving other children but it certainly is not a solution! What are your thoughts?

Autism and Persad-Bissessar Kamla

Careful, politicians will promise you anything: riches, everlasting life and a harem of virgins if it means getting re-elected. Since she is speaking from experience she should of had things implemented in her first term already.
