Drink campaign to target parents
Parents who allow their children to drink could be prosecuted as part of a government crackdown on underage drinking.

I think if the child is an adult (18 or over) they should be allowed to drink in the family home. I was drinking at the age of 18 and I had no problems. Drinking age was 18 in my state at the time. I was still in high school and was able to drink. I think a parent has more ability to control the amount of drink their son or daughter has when they are an adult and drinking ony at home. I do not think the governement should step in in a case like this. If the kids are under 18 then yes the government should step in. Just my thoughts.

Do not get me started on the whole energy drink thing. I do not let any of kids have energy drinks. If I see them with one because they bought it with their own money I take it away and dump it out. These things are very dangerous. Now they are using a energy drink base and adding alcohol to it? I guess I am too old to understand the reason behind all of this.
I think it is not about having a drink and enjoying it it is about how high how fast. It is also an excuse for teens to act up and claim it is not my fault the drink made me do it.
I am sure it is quite addicting to boot.
Krusten I think if a person lets a "child" of 13 to 17 have a bit of wine at a meal it is one thing but to allow them to get intoxicated is quit another. I think Like sex the parent needs to educate their child in what booze is and how it effects them and the health benefits as wells as risks then this would never be an issue. Letting a person discover booze on their own id a dreadful mistake just as feeding them hoards is as well.
I agree with Krakyn here on this. It is the parents responsibility to educate their children on things they are going to experience in the world after they move out. Suppling teen or young adults with some alcohol here and there with a meal at home is not hurting them and helping them learn that drinking is ok if:
1. Your not drinking in excess.
2. Your not going to be driving or going anywhere.
This will help them stay in more control when they are out in the world and have to make a decision that could effect them for the rest of their lives.
I agree with Krusten that giving alcohol to kids under the age of 13 is abusive and not right to do.
